Data We Collect
NutriTracks collects the minimum information necessary to provide and improve the app experience. We collect two categories of data:
- Information you provide: Account details (name, email address), health profile (age, weight, height, dietary goals), and food logs you enter within the app.
- Automatically collected data: Anonymised usage analytics (feature interactions, crash reports) to help us fix bugs and improve performance. This data cannot be used to identify you.
We never access your device's camera, microphone, or location beyond what is strictly necessary for features you explicitly activate (e.g. barcode scanning requires camera access).
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to:
- Provide core app functionality — logging meals, tracking goals, and generating insights
- Sync your data securely across your personal devices (if you enable iCloud sync)
- Send optional notifications and reminders you have configured in the app
- Identify and resolve technical bugs or crashes
- Improve future features based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any automated decision-making that produces legal or significant effects on you.
We Do Not Sell Your Data
NutriTracks does not sell, rent, lease, or trade your personal information to any third parties — ever. We do not share your data with data brokers, advertising networks, or any external companies for commercial purposes.
We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Trusted infrastructure partners (e.g. cloud hosting) who process data solely on our behalf and are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Health & Sensitive Data
Nutrition and health data is among the most sensitive personal information. We treat it accordingly:
- All health-related data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256)
- Integration with Apple Health is entirely optional and controlled by you in iOS Settings
- Your health data is never used for advertising or shared with insurers, employers, or pharmaceutical companies
- You may export or permanently delete your health data at any time from the app's Settings screen
Your Consent & Your Rights
You are in control. By using NutriTracks, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Correction — Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion — Request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portability — Export your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt-out — Disable optional analytics collection in app Settings at any time

Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. When you delete your account, we permanently erase your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked to any individual.
Children's Privacy
NutriTracks is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will take prompt steps to delete it.
